Mrs. Harms and her fourth grade class, along with Mrs. Chipman and her high school Ag students embarked on a unique challenge Wednesday through the St. Louis Science Center and Illinois Ag in the Classroom. The "SOIL YOUR UNDIES" challenge is designed to teach students that soil is definitely NOT just DIRT!! Through this experiment, we teach the importance of soil conservation, the hidden life within soil, how our lives depend on soil, the names and characteristics of the soil layers, and so much more! We buried three pairs of 100% cotton, white, new underwear, and we will dig them up at different time intervals over the next three months. We made predictions what might happen to the undies, listened to Mrs. Chipman telling us about soil, and observed the soil that the Ag boys dug up for us. We will share our first update at the end of September. The kids have enjoyed this project, which has caused some laughter as you can imagine! 😊 We are so lucky to live in a place with such rich, fertile, amazing soil! 🌱

Come on out tonight to support the Lady Falcons as they have their first home game of the season tonight (8/31) starting at 5pm with the Freshman. Freddy loves to see all the support for his fellow Falcons!

The Fourth grade classroom turned into "The Book Cafe" this morning where Mrs. Harms hosted a Book Tasting event. The students were "served" six different genres of books to "taste" by reading a page or 2. Then, they wrote their thoughts about the book and gave it a rating. We enjoyed tasting historical fiction, realistic fiction, fantasy, mystery, informational text, and biographies. It was a fun morning "dining" on books at The Book Cafe! 👩🍳🍽📚

Mrs. Harlan's 3rd Grade Class enjoyed their read aloud today from Dr. Hansen as they cooled off after recess.

Our Kindergarten , 1st, and 2nd Grade Students enjoyed a cool treat for completing their summer Reading and Math Packets. Thank you to Pontiac Dairy Queen for the generous donation.
