On Tuesday, Mr. Holt’s “Film as Literature” class ventured to the Peoria Riverfront Museum for a private screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller film Psycho! Students had spent the previous week analyzing other Hitchcock films in order to draw thematic and formal connections between them. The rest of the week, we’ll take a deep dive into specific scenes in Psycho and how the director uses elements like sound, time, and cinematography to create tension… Plus, we had popcorn, so a good time was had by all!

The fourth grade students began their "Soil Your Undies" Challenge on Friday. This experiment from Illinois Ag in the Classroom teaches us how soil is NOT just dirt! We buried two pair of new, white undies and will dig them up at different intervals to see what they look like over time, all while learning about soil! Thanks to Mrs. Chipman and the FFA students for their help! 🪴🪱

Students in Advanced Horticulture have been busy this week designing their first floral arrangement for their monthly subscription customers. They started by carving real pumpkins and scraping them clean and then came the fun part of designing the arrangements. They turned out beautifully!
