Ms. Wykes has had many positions in her time here at FC74. She is currently the Junior high Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. When asked about her favorite memory at FC74, she said, “I love all the students that come back to visit or that I see while I am out and about.” She enjoys playing golf, doing charity work with the Elks, and reading in her free time. If you see Ms. Wykes around, tell her your favorite memory about her!!! Thank you, Ms. Wykes, for all you do!

The 4th graders and Ag students dug up their first pair of "soiled undies" today! The undies had a few holes in them already and were definitely dirty in spots. The 4th graders also learned how to do the ribbon test to determine the soil texture. They discovered that the soil behind the bus garage is a loam soil, which means it has sand, silt, and clay in it, but the soil back there has a lot of silt and clay.

Mark Harms, our FC74 School Board President, also serves as the current Vice President of the Illinois Association of School Boards. This week, Mr. Harms and a team of IASB officers and directors traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the Federal Advocacy Conference, where they met with the staff members of several senators and representatives from Illinois to discuss federal legislation affecting the funding of education. The IASB works hard to advocate for education in Illinois, including Flanagan-Cornell #74!

Today our FFA Chapter hosted an event about "sharing the road" with farmers this fall. All high schoolers were able to learn about different equipment used during harvest and then how to share the road with them. Students were urged to be patient, give themselves extra time when traveling, and to make sure to leave plenty of room between their vehicles and the machinery. We hope all area farmers have a safe and bountiful harvest!
