Students in Advanced Horticulture had to take their floral design skills up a notch and create their own original arrangements for Valentine's Day. They had to find inspiration, create a recipe and buying list, and then design their masterpiece. Now they will have to price their arrangements if they were sold in a floral shop and have to critique their arrangements. Getting a taste of what it would be like to work in a floral shop is the perfect way to learn by doing!

Wednesday February 12th...all Flanagan Cornell #74 after school activities have been cancelled.
What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to create a floral arrangement? Basic Horticulture students put what they learned into practice by creating centerpieces to celebrate the holiday! They started by creating the base of the arrangement with foliage/greenery and then added the flowers to make it beautiful. They all did a great job!

Reminder: Bundt Cake pick up is tomorrow (February 12) from 3-4:30 pm! Contact Trisha Ruddy with questions @ 815.715.6841
FC 74 Families:
Due to the impending winter weather tomorrow, the district may need to utilize an e-learning day or an early dismissal. In order to ensure student safety, we ask that families prepare an alternative plan should the district need to send students home early. The district will make this announcement as early as reasonably possible.
Thank you for your cooperation and flexibility.

The Flanagan-Cornell Unit District 74 Board of Education is conducting a search for a
new superintendent. The selection of a new superintendent is probably the most
important decision a board of education has to make; therefore, the Board has hired the
Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to assist in this process.
The Board of Education is seeking everyone’s input in the search process. The Board
requests that all board members, all staff, all parents and community members complete
an online survey provided by the IASB. The results will be tallied and used by the Board
and Screening Team to develop a brochure to advertise the position. All survey responses
and comments will remain anonymous.
The survey for community members can be accessed at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TYLNGXJ
The survey is also posted on our website.
The survey deadline is February 16, 2025 at 11:45 p.m.
Thank you for taking time to complete the survey.
