The fourth graders visited Mackinson Dairy Farm to visit their calf from the Adopt-a-Calf program they participated in with the St. Louis Dairy Council. Farmer Mackinson and his family gave us a tour of the dairy operation, showed us the show barn, and then we ended with a treat of Prairie Farms ice cream bars. THANK YOU to the Mackinsons for everything! Support farmers and buy Prairie Farms! 🥛🐄

Today students in Advanced Horticulture traveled to Peoria to visit a few different horticulture businesses. We started at Bill Doran which is where we get all of our fresh flowers for floral design projects. We learned about how the flowers are processed, purchased, and sold. Then we traveled to Blossom Acres, which is a flower farm owned by FCHS Alumni, Jenna Andrews (Folkerts). Jenna shared her story about how she started her business, how it has grown, and the trials and tribulations of owning a business. It was so fun to learn from an alum and one of Mrs. Chipmans high school classmates!

Kash, an FCHS Junior, is competing at SkillsUSA with his Criminal Justice program at the Livingston Area Career Center. We are proud of you, Kash! Good luck at the competition!
