Mrs. Harms's fourth graders celebrated the start of the new year and a new semester today with mini-cinnamon rolls, a reading about the history of the Times Square Ball, an MnM Word find race, class goal setting, "glad to be back" writing, horn blowing, and reflecting on all we've learned. It was a great first day back. 🎉

3rd and 4th graders had the chance to ask a 3D designer about printing Sculptures in art class this week. They loved hearing all about the design process and are excited to learn to print in STEAM as they get older. A huge thank you to Darrell Kegg for taking time out of his very busy schedule to meet with us.

Both Ag Science classes took two exciting field trips during their block class to deepen their understanding of crop science relating to corn! Last week, students visited Evergreen FS, where they received a tour of their facilities that explored careers, equipment, seed, fertilizer, and more. This week, they toured the Graymont Co-op, experiencing a drive-through view of the grain elevator operations. They also learned about the feed mill, grain commodity, and how a cooperative functions. A huge shoutout to Courtney and Matt for being amazing tour guides and sharing their time and expertise with us!

Intro to Ag classes have been diving into the dairy industry and everything in between! Over the past two weeks, they’ve taken two exciting field trips. Last week, students visited Aldi and Walmart to explore different types of cheese, compare dairy and non-dairy products by examining ingredients, and analyze the different types of dairy products. This week, they toured Zehrview Dairy Farm, hosted by Flanagan-Cornell High School and FFA Alum Rosalee Zehr. Students walked through the show barn, milk house, milking parlor, and different types of cattle lots. They learned about cow nutrition and saw the day-to-day operations of a dairy farm—ending with a visit to baby calves, who were just as excited to see them! Even though it was a cold day, the students stuck it out and had a blast. A huge thank you to Zehrview Dairy Farm and Rosalee Zehr for an amazing and information filled tour!
