Gus Koeller preparing for his Demonstration speech
The third quarter of English 2 curriculum consists of one of the most arguably dreaded  units for most teenagers…public speaking. As the lessons begins, students most certainly experience butterflies in the stomach and sweaty palms. But as the weeks move along, the students become more comfortable being in front of the classroom as they present a demonstration, informational, persuasive speech on topics of their choice. The skills from those speeches will work together as they prepare for their final speech, a debate with one of their classmates on a topic that pertains to FCHS students. The unit wraps up with the students composing a reflective paper on how they have grown and improved as a communicator during the quarter.
